A wider attachment area results in a wider double eyelid, while a narrower attachment area yields a narrower one.If the levator aponeurosis attaches only to the tarsal plate without skin attachment, it results in a single eyelid. Excessive orbital fat, downward displacement of fat, or accumulation of "yellow" fat granules beneath the levator aponeurosis creates a "puffy eye" or "watery eye" appearance.
Generally, double eyelid correction surgery for puffy eyes under local anesthesia is relatively safe. Preoperative management should control respiratory tract inflammation and eliminate symptoms like coughing, as these can cause postoperative bleeding or wound dehiscence.
Surgical Approach: Pioneering domestically, we employ the "Suture-Based Double Eyelid Technique Combined with Small-Incision Orbital Fat Removal." While performing the suture method for double eyelid creation, a 3-millimeter incision is made along the double eyelid crease to remove orbital fat. Approximately 1 milliliter of orbital fat can be extracted per upper eyelid through this small incision,which is comparable to the amount of orbital fat removed in traditional incisional double eyelid surgery for puffy eyes. This technique facilitates rapid post-operative swelling reduction. The small incision requires no sutures and heals naturally without scarring, yielding excellent results.
When selecting a procedure, note: so-called "high-molecular double eyelid" and "molding" techniques currently marketed are essentially buried suture methods. Patients apprehensive about the incision method for puffy eyelid double eyelid surgery, fearful of surgery, or those with puffy eyelids seeking rapid post-operative swelling reduction, natural recovery, and quick results may consider this corrective approach for puffy eyelids.
