As living standards improve, makeup has become an important part of many women's lives. Many women who are already pregnant do not want to fall behind in fashion and still enjoy wearing heavy makeup, unaware that heavy makeup during pregnancy can easily cause fetal deformities.
Pregnant women should avoid makeup or heavy makeup altogether, especially in summer when lighter makeup is recommended. Crucially, never use low-quality or expired cosmetics.
Precautions for Pregnant Women Using Makeup
1. Always thoroughly remove makeup to prevent pigment deposition.
2. Keep makeup light, particularly lipstick and foundation.
3. Avoid cosmetics containing hormones or heavy metals like copper, mercury, or lead. Choose high-quality, reliable products with simple, natural ingredients and gentle formulas.
5. During pregnancy, avoid eyeliner, eyebrow tattoos, lip tattoos, and eyebrow plucking. Use eyebrow trimmers instead.
6. Do not use whitening products during pregnancy to address pregnancy-related dark spots.
7. Minimize lipstick use. If applied, remove it before drinking or eating to prevent harmful substances from entering the body through the mouth.
Darkening of facial spots during pregnancy is a normal physiological phenomenon, not a pathological condition. Attempting to remove these spots during pregnancy is not only ineffective but also risky. Many spot-removal creams contain chemicals like lead and mercury, as well as certain hormones. Long-term use may affect fetal development and potentially cause birth defects.
