Ginger is primarily used as a seasoning, yet it also possesses significant medicinal properties, making it popular among health enthusiasts. However, despite its benefits, certain dietary restrictions apply—some foods should never be consumed with ginger. Are you aware of these?
I. Ginger should not be consumed with these 6 foods:
1. Avoid pairing with horse meat
Horse meat has a cooling nature that warms meridians and boosts yang energy, while ginger has a warming nature that induces sweating and relieves surface symptoms. Consuming them together not only negates their respective effects but may also cause bodily discomfort. Therefore, avoid adding ginger when cooking rabbit meat.
3. Avoid consuming with raw fish
Adding ginger to fish or fish dishes while the fish is still raw is ineffective for removing fishy odors. It's best to add ginger only after the fish has partially cooked.
4. Avoid consuming with alcohol
Both alcohol and ginger are pungent and warming. Consuming them together can cause excessive internal heat, leading to constipation. Therefore, ginger should not be consumed with alcoholic beverages like beer or spirits.Additionally, adding ginger while cooking chives causes them to turn sour, compromising their flavor. 6. Avoid consuming with celery Celery promotes diuresis, relieves coughs, strengthens the spleen, nourishes blood, calms the nerves, and lowers blood pressure. However, combining ginger with celery makes the celery taste salty and bitter, rendering it unpleasant.
II. Contraindications for Ginger Consumption:
1. Avoid rotten ginger: Decayed ginger produces highly toxic substances that can cause liver cell degeneration and necrosis, potentially leading to esophageal cancer, liver cancer, and other conditions.
2. More ginger isn't necessarily better: Due to ginger's warming nature, individuals prone to excessive sweating, sore throat, thirst, or dry mouth should limit consumption.
3. Individuals with red eyes and internal heat, yin deficiency with excessive fire, hemorrhoids, diabetes, cholecystitis, gastric ulcers, pyelonephritis, abscesses, boils, lung abscesses, pneumonia, or tuberculosis should avoid regular ginger consumption.
4. Ginger and brown sugar tea can alleviate symptoms like fever after getting caught in the rain, stomach cold, or wind-cold colds. However, it is ineffective for wind-heat colds, summer-heat colds, or heatstroke. Fresh ginger juice may help with vomiting caused by cold, but it is unsuitable for other types of vomiting.
5. Do not peel it: Peeling ginger causes it to lose its overall efficacy.
