Everyone experiences moments of anger. Some may bottle it up alone, while others might vent on those nearby. If you seek a healthier outlet, consider letting your body's acupoints assist. From a traditional Chinese medicine perspective, one specific point can help you release pent-up emotions.
The Tai Chong acupoint is located in the depression 1.5 cm above the gap between the big toe and the second toe. According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, it has the effects of soothing the liver, regulating qi, promoting blood circulation, and harmonizing the triple energizer. Pressing this point after getting angry can help disperse stagnant energy, relieve anger, and alleviate some illnesses caused by anger. Therefore, the Tai Chong acupoint is also known as the "Anger-Dispelling Point" or the "Anger Vent."
Before pressing this point, it's best to soak both feet in warm water for 10–15 minutes. Then use the pad of your left thumb to massage the right Tai Chong point for 3 minutes, followed by the pad of your right thumb to massage the left Tai Chong point for 3 minutes.Repeat this sequence 2–3 times, totaling 10–15 minutes. Apply moderate pressure during massage, aiming for a sensation of soreness or even mild aching. This method is particularly suitable for those prone to bottling up anger, suppressing tears, or experiencing persistent depression, anxiety, and unresolved worries. It is recommended to perform the massage one hour after meals.
However, caution is advised for individuals with blood clotting disorders, and it is strictly prohibited for pregnant women.
