Meat is an indispensable part of our diet, and most parts of an animal are edible. However, certain sections should never be consumed, as they can pose serious health risks.
1. Avoid the "black membrane" on fish:
Located on both sides of the abdominal cavity, this dark membrane is the most pungent and muddy-tasting part, containing high levels of lipids, lysozyme, and other substances.
2. Avoid the "wing tips" on poultry:
The area at the top of the tail feathers on chickens, ducks, geese, and other poultry is scientifically known as the "cystic sac." This region concentrates lymph glands. While the macrophages within these glands can engulf bacteria and viruses—even carcinogens—they cannot break them down. Thus, the poultry "tail tip" acts as a "depository" for toxins and impurities.Avoid eating the fatty lumps on the pig's neck:
When preparing pork, remove any gray, yellow, or dark red fatty lumps—known as "meat dates"—from areas like the neck. These regions harbor numerous bacteria and viruses, and consuming them may lead to illness. Why does the toxicity of a chicken's head increase with age? Medical experts explain that chickens ingest harmful heavy metals while foraging.
5. Avoid eating chicken necks:
Do not consume the skin of chicken or duck necks, nor the trachea. These parts contain high levels of cholesterol and should be avoided.
6. Avoid the "three glands" in livestock:
The thyroid, adrenal glands, and diseased lymph nodes in pigs, cattle, and sheep are three "physiologically harmful organs."
7. Avoid sheep "suspended tendons":
Sheep "suspended tendons" (also called "hoof pearls") are typically round or bead-like formations—abnormal tissue growths within the hoof.
8. Rabbit "Scent Glands" Should Not Be Eaten:
The white musk glands located beneath the skin on both sides of the external genitalia, the adjacent brown musk glands, and the rectal glands on both walls of the rectum emit an extremely foul odor. If not removed before consumption, they render the rabbit meat unpalatable.
