A study published in the Journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons indicates that mortality rates for various hospital procedures range from 1 in 100,000 to 1 in 300,000. However, between 1994 and 1998, 95 patients died during liposuction procedures—a mortality rate of 1 in 5,000. Causes of death included vascular occlusion, anesthesia complications, and internal injuries.According to plastic surgeons, removing 3 to 6 pounds of fat is generally safe. However, when surgeons recklessly extract excessive fat, the corresponding overdose of painkillers can impair blood circulation, leading to vascular blockage and death.

Individuals with these functional disorders face severe complications—even life-threatening risks—if they undergo liposuction.
