The spotted grouper, also known as the opium fish, boasts a delicious flavor. However, its unusual appearance raises the question: how should it be prepared?
1. First, locate the belly (which is quite small), typically situated on the lower left side of the head (the soft area is the belly). Use scissors or a small sharp knife to make an incision, remove the internal organs, and rinse thoroughly.
2.Remove the gills by hand or with scissors.
3. Rinse thoroughly.
4. Alternatively, make an incision near the gills~~ and extract the gills and innards.
5.That outer layer of skin is also near the gills.
6. Peel it off—the entire skin will come away in one piece.
Nutritional Value of Turbot
Rich in collagen protein, it boasts a delicious flavor and abundant nutrients. It effectively moisturizes the skin and enhances beauty, while also nourishing the kidneys, strengthening the brain, boosting vitality, and improving mental alertness. Regular consumption promotes health, fitness, and disease resistance. In China, it's commonly steamed or braised, and also serves as excellent sashimi material. Its head, bones, skin, and fins can be used for soup. This fish is no novelty to Europeans, as fish species introduced from China are found in England, France, and Germany.Ancient Romans long celebrated it as a delicacy, dubbing it the "sea pheasant." In Europe, its tender flesh and delicate flavor make it an excellent choice for fish fillets and steaks, gaining significant traction in the market and posing a challenge to traditional beef cuts.
High in collagen and rich in nutrients, turbot offers exceptional skin-nourishing and beautifying benefits. It also strengthens kidney function, enhances brain health, boosts vitality, and sharpens the mind. Regular consumption promotes overall wellness and enhances disease resistance!
Traditionally prepared whole and steamed, turbot embodies classic Cantonese cuisine. Europeans favor it as "fish fillets."Some restaurant chefs debone the fish, steam the fillets, and pair them with a sauce blending Western red wine sauce and Japanese teriyaki. Each fillet is presented on a small white porcelain plate, generously drizzled with red wine sauce and garnished with asparagus tips, creating an exquisite, almost artistic presentation. When enjoying this dish, each person receives a portion of fish fillet along with a special set of cutlery. Like "sawing a steak" in a Western restaurant, diners savor the steamed turbot, with the fins being the most delicious part. Notable contemporary dishes include: Steamed Turbot with Minced Chili and Fermented Black Beans, and Plain Steamed Turbot.Turbot is renowned for its skin-nourishing, beauty-enhancing properties, as well as its ability to tonify the kidneys, strengthen the brain, boost vitality, and invigorate the spirit.
