1. Psychological Care: Psychological support should begin before childbirth. Prepare expectant mothers for breastfeeding, building their confidence that their milk will adequately nourish their baby. Dispels concerns about breastfeeding affecting body shape. Discourages belief in myths detrimental to breastfeeding. Spouses and family members should offer verbal and practical support to prevent negative psychological effects.Postpartum dietary adjustments should include increased intake of eggs, dairy, chicken, fish, lean meats, and organ meats like heart, liver, blood, and kidneys. Ensure adequate consumption of fresh vegetables and fruits.
3. Adequate Rest and Sleep: Excessive physical exertion not only impairs milk production but also reduces protein content in breast milk. It can also affect the mother's emotional state, thereby impacting the let-down reflex.
4. Guide Mothers in Proper Breastfeeding Techniques:
(1) Initiate breastfeeding promptly: Early feeding stimulates milk production. Within 30 minutes of delivery, place the newborn naked on the mother's chest and, with healthcare assistance, allow the infant to suckle both nipples.
(2) Breastfeed on demand, permitting unrestricted suckling at the breast. This advances milk production timing and increases milk supply.
(3) Express excess milk: When premature or low-birth-weight infants require prolonged hospitalization and separation from the mother, express excess milk under healthcare guidance to prevent gradual milk supply reduction.Maintain nighttime feedings to increase milk production.
5. Breast Hygiene and Care: Regularly cleanse nipples with a towel and water to prevent soreness and cracking during feeding. Address poor nipple elasticity, flatness, or inversion promptly.Method: Connect two 10-ml syringes with a thin tube to the nipple. Remove the stopper from one syringe, place it over the nipple, and draw milk from the other syringe. Repeat this treatment multiple times.
6. Diet and Medication: Foods that promote milk secretion include crucian carp soup, pig's trotter soup, and red bean soup. Opt for light, less salty meals and moderately increase intake of foods like animal fats.
