In the blink of an eye, autumn winds have arrived. After enduring summer's trials, our skin now needs rest and recuperation. Beyond maintaining cleanliness, massage stands as the most effective beauty method for preserving skin health and vitality.
Massage provides gentle yet effective stimulation. It boosts blood circulation, regulates sebum and sweat secretion, enhances subcutaneous tissue function, and revitalizes the skin. Thus, massage is highly effective in relieving skin fatigue and preventing aging—perfect for facial skin exhausted after enduring summer's rigors.
Moreover, after massage, the skin softens and pores open, allowing toners and nutrients to penetrate deeply. Massage doesn't require a salon visit—we'll introduce techniques you can perform at home. With consistent practice and proper technique, you'll undoubtedly become a winter beauty with skin as radiant as snow.
Massage Techniques and Key Points:
Since facial skin requires rest after massage, it's best performed before bedtime. The optimal moment is after cleansing or bathing, when the skin is clean and moist.
Always apply a layer of massage cream first (most reputable cosmetic brands offer specialized massage creams), or use cosmetic-grade olive oil.The purpose of massage cream or olive oil is to smooth the skin, allowing fingers and palms to glide effortlessly. Without any lubrication, you risk straining the facial subcutaneous fibers and causing skin roughness. Therefore, never massage "dry."
The fundamental massage movements are "rubbing," "tapping," and "pinching." These three actions should be coordinated throughout the massage.
The most orthodox technique is "rubbing," which must follow the direction of muscles and blood flow. Key points include circular rubbing around the eyes, up-and-down strokes along the sides of the nose bridge, and outward rubbing from the center on all other areas.
"Tapping" involves using the fingertips to gently strike the skin. Simpler than rubbing, it's most effective for preventing wrinkles around the eyes.
"Pinching" is used to accelerate blood circulation in the cheeks, most effectively performed with the thumb and index finger. While these techniques can be used individually, combining them yields the best results. Movements should be slow and gentle, applying just enough pressure to feel a slight tension on the skin. Massage rhythmically for 3–5 minutes until the skin feels comfortable and relaxed.
After massage, use a cotton pad or soft tissue to remove all massage cream. Cleanse with slightly warm water (slightly warmer than your usual face wash temperature). Apply toner using massage strokes, followed by a nighttime nourishing cream.
For delicate, healthy skin, massage every 3 days. For dry, rough, or aging skin, massage daily.
