Contraceptive films, contraceptive suppositories, and spermicides are commonly used alongside conventional methods.
How they work: 1. Insert spermicides before intercourse to immobilize or kill sperm. 2. Block sperm from entering the uterus.
Advantages: 1. No systemic or long-term side effects. 2. Simple and effective; users control application; fertility can be restored.
Disadvantages: 1. Requires waiting 5-10 minutes after insertion of the contraceptive film or pessary before intercourse, which may dampen mood.2. Relatively high failure rate with routine use.
Suitable for: 1. Newlywed women, women who have already given birth, menopausal women. 2. Those unable to use oral contraceptives or intrauterine devices. 3. Vaginal diaphragms and cervical caps are suitable for women who wish to control the method themselves.
Usage: 1. After inserting contraceptive films, suppositories, etc., into the deep vaginal cavity, wait 5-10 minutes before intercourse.2. For contraceptive jellies, attach the applicator before intercourse, insert it deep into the vagina, spread the jelly, and proceed with intercourse. Precautions: 1. Use with every intercourse. 2. Avoid getting up after insertion. 3. Reinsert if intercourse or ejaculation does not occur within 30 minutes.
