Summer has arrived, bringing the hottest weather of the year. Many people feel that frequent bathing provides relief from the heat, so they shower whenever they sweat. However, this practice is dangerous. Don't follow Ms. Xia's example—excessive bathing led to her developing skin cancer. Why can frequent bathing cause skin cancer?
Frequent bathing strips away the body's naturally scarce sebum.Less sebum means drier skin, increasing the risk of dermatitis. Vigorous scrubbing during showers damages the epidermis, allowing bacteria and fungi to invade and cause skin infections. Additionally, frequent skin damage weakens the body's immunity. Over time, accumulated inflammation may "escalate" into skin cancer.
Tip: Bathing requires attention to detail
Warm water baths are ideal for soaking, while hot water baths aid in cleansing the skin. A warm bath should be around 35°C (95°F), feeling slightly warm to the touch. A hot bath is suitable at approximately 40°C (104°F), feeling slightly hot.
Wash your face first to prevent enlarged pores from trapping accumulated daily grime. Then bathe your body, followed by washing your hair.
Situations unsuitable for bathing:
1. After strenuous labor, which may cause insufficient blood supply to the heart and brain, potentially leading to fainting.
2.When feverish or experiencing low blood pressure, blood vessels dilate, increasing the risk of collapse in individuals with hypotension.
3. After drinking alcohol, blood sugar levels may not be replenished promptly, leading to dizziness, blurred vision, and weakness. In severe cases, hypoglycemic coma may occur.
4. After meals, the body's superficial blood vessels dilate due to hot water stimulation, causing increased blood flow to the body's surface. This reduces blood supply to the abdominal cavity, impairing digestion and absorption.
5. When hungry, blood sugar levels may drop, potentially causing fainting or loss of consciousness.
5. Hunger can cause hypoglycemia, leading to fainting or collapse.
These are common reasons why bathing may contribute to skin cancer. Now you understand, right? If you value cleanliness, bathing once a day is sufficient. Never think that summer justifies bathing four or five times daily—this can harm your health. So be extra careful.
