Bees generally do not attack humans without provocation. But what should you do if you get stung by a bee? Let's take a look.
If stung by a domestic honeybee, the local reaction is usually mild. Applying alkaline soap or simply enduring the discomfort may suffice. However, if symptoms like headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, irritability, or fever appear, the situation is serious and requires immediate medical attention. Mild stings may cause a red spot with a central bruise, a pimple, or a hive-like bump at the site, accompanied by a burning or stinging sensation. If no symptoms appear within 20 minutes after the sting, it's generally safe.Severe reactions manifest as extensive redness, swelling, and blister formation at the site, accompanied by intense pain or itching, along with fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, restlessness, convulsions, or unconsciousness.Individuals with specific sensitivities may experience anaphylactic shock due to bee venom allergy, manifesting as rapid facial and eyelid swelling, hives, laryngeal edema, abdominal pain, diarrhea, respiratory distress, hypotension, and loss of consciousness. This can ultimately lead to death from respiratory and circulatory failure.
Bees generally do not actively attack humans. But what should we do if accidentally stung? If stung by a domesticated honeybee, the local reaction is usually less severe. Let's explore the details.
Bees differ significantly from wasps. Bee stings require alkaline treatment, while wasp stings demand acidic treatment. Since we frequently encounter wasps outdoors, remember to use acidic treatment. The steps are as follows:
(1) Stay calm and avoid panic.
(2) If the stinger remains embedded, remove it first.
(3) Clean and soak the wound with soapy water, 3% ammonia solution, 5–10% sodium bicarbonate solution, saltwater, or sugar water.
(4) Apply fresh human milk to the affected area several times daily.
(5) Apply crushed Yulu powder or chrysanthemum leaves as a poultice.
(6) For wasp stings, clean the area with vinegar or fresh purslane, then apply the squeezed juice.
(7) Crush garlic or ginger to extract juice and apply to the affected area.
(8) Select fresh dandelion, violet, seven-leaf one-flower, or half-leaf lotus. Wash, crush, and apply externally around the wound for effective results.
(9) Apply melted Nantong Snake Bite Medicine tablets in a ring approximately 2 cm around the spur wound to detoxify, relieve pain, and reduce swelling.
(10) Apply old cucumber juice to the affected area several times daily to relieve pain and reduce swelling.
(11) Wash 30 grams of leeks, mash them into a paste, and apply to the affected area.
