Rhinoplasty stands as one of the cornerstone procedures in cosmetic surgery, having undergone extensive development over time. Currently, the majority of nasal surgeries performed in South Korea involve rhinoplasty. Various materials are utilized in rhinoplasty: silicone or expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) for the nasal bridge, while cartilage or dermal tissue is employed for shaping the nasal tip. When sculpting the nasal structure, careful attention must be paid to achieving harmony and balance with the overall facial features.
Postoperative Care
1. For ePTFE rhinoplasty, follow medical instructions to take oral antibiotics for approximately one week.
2. Sutures are typically removed 5-7 days post-surgery. Avoid getting the wound wet until suture removal.
3. For a period after surgery, take care to avoid bumping the nose to prevent displacement of the ePTFE graft.
4. Swelling typically begins to subside around one week post-surgery, with most swelling resolved within one month. The final results become apparent between three to six months.
5. While EPT rhinoplasty does not cause nasal conditions like rhinitis, proper post-operative care remains essential for nasal hygiene and maintenance.
6. As a corrective procedure for nasal deformities, silicone implant rhinoplasty does not affect nasal breathing or olfactory function, nor does it cause sinusitis or rhinitis. Patients seeking aesthetic enhancement can proceed with confidence.
