What to do about dry skin? Hydration tips to the rescue!
1. Increase intake of various vitamins
Consuming foods rich in vitamins greatly benefits skin hydration. Vitamins play a crucial role in preventing skin aging and maintaining a smooth, moisturized complexion.Foods rich in Vitamin A: animal liver, cod liver oil, lean meat, eggs, and orange/red vegetables and fruits. Foods rich in Vitamin B2: yeast, fish, eggs, beans, eel, river crab, etc.
2. Maintain consistent hydration
Drink water in moderation—remember, it's about balanced hydration, not excessive intake. Skin softness and moisture levels are closely tied to hydration. When the body becomes dehydrated, skin dries out, sebum production decreases, and skin loses elasticity, potentially leading to wrinkles. Therefore, drink an adequate amount of water daily to keep your skin healthy and beautiful.
3. Hot Towel Moisturizing
After applying a face mask, use a warm towel to press against your face. This enhances moisture absorption. For better hydration before each mask application, cover the mask with a warm towel first. This not only aids in the penetration of moisture and nutrients but also soothes dry skin. However, avoid using a warm towel with whitening masks, as high temperatures can easily dissolve the whitening ingredients.
4. Moisturizing with Carrier Oils
Regularly using carrier oils can prevent flaky skin. Products containing jojoba oil, grape seed oil, or olive oil offer reliable protection against dryness. Apply these oils like a moisturizer immediately after bathing, while skin is still damp—their hydrating power rivals that of dedicated moisturizers.
5. Toner Hydration
Always incorporate toner into your makeup routine for hydration. If flakiness occurs, saturate a cotton pad or compressed paper with toner and apply it to your face for 10-15 minutes. This replenishes moisture while softening the stratum corneum. Don't waste the used cotton pad—wipe your hands and elbows afterward for extra hydration.
6. Regularly Consume Foods Rich in Collagen and Elastin
Regularly eating foods containing collagen helps keep skin plump and hydrated. Collagen plumps cells, resulting in fuller skin and fewer wrinkles. Incorporate foods like tendons, pork skin, and chicken skin into your diet.
7. Increase intake of trace elements
Beyond nutrients, focus on trace elements to promote a healthy glow. Adequate blood supply is essential—iron is a key component of hemoglobin. Consume iron-rich foods like animal blood, egg yolks, and meats.Natural iron in foods is a highly valent form with low solubility, making it difficult to absorb directly. It can only be absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract in an acidic environment.
Consuming foods rich in iron helps replenish blood and improve complexion. Therefore, when supplementing iron, also increase intake of vitamin C-rich foods like tomatoes, green peppers, and hawthorn berries.Zinc deficiency can lead to dry, rough skin prone to acne. Foods rich in zinc include oysters, malt, walnuts, and melon seeds. When the weather is dry, remember to hydrate your skin!
