Lip tinting uses pigment solution to alter lip light-dark relationships, define lip lines, and add color, achieving corrective and beautifying effects. As a traumatic permanent cosmetic procedure, it eliminates daily lipstick application and resists smudging from swimming or sweating, making it popular among women seeking lip enhancement. So, what precautions should be taken for lip tinting?Let's explore below!
Pre-procedure preparations:
1. Three days prior, take Banlangen granules orally and receive intravenous metronidazole or other broad-spectrum antibiotics to create an optimal physical environment for the procedure.
2. Determine if you experience frequent or seasonal cold sores on your lips. If so, in addition to intravenous or oral antibiotics, take oral Vitamin C three days before the procedure. Continue taking Vitamin C and antiviral medication for five days after the procedure.
3. Select an appropriate color based on age, skin tone, and natural lip color. For those with pale lips or younger age, bright red, deep red, or vermilion shades are suitable. Older individuals or those with darker lip tones should opt for light red shades. Avoid coffee brown, as it may result in an unhealthy liver-like color on the lips.Additionally, cosmetic specialists advise avoiding peanuts, sunflower seeds, seafood, and similar foods. These dietary restrictions must be maintained throughout the entire lip tinting process until the wound fully heals, typically around two days.
5. Choose an appropriate timing. Generally, women should avoid lip tinting during menstruation; the optimal time is one week after the menstrual period ends.
Post-procedure care:
1. After the procedure, regularly cleanse the lips with cotton balls soaked in gentamicin solution to accelerate wound healing.
2. Temporary uneven pigmentation may occur post-procedure. Avoid any lip enhancement methods (e.g., lip liner, lipstick) during this period. Even pigmentation will develop naturally within 1-2 months, resulting in beautifully defined lips.
3. First, apply pre-cut olive-shaped cotton pads soaked in epinephrine hydrochloride over the entire lip area for 15–20 minutes until the skin turns completely white. Then apply the anesthetic. Once the anesthetic takes effect, you may feel lip swelling.
4. Do not apply any topical medications to the lips post-procedure. Continue oral and intravenous antibiotics for 3–5 days.
