Before retirement, I was frequently ill and frail. In recent years, I've embraced the health hammer as my treasure for healing and fitness, regularly tapping key acupoints. As a result, colds no longer plague me, irregular heartbeats have gradually vanished, and my cervical spondylosis has healed. Most joyfully, my 23-year battle with chronic colitis has also been knocked away. Now I'm robust and full of vitality. Many ask me for my secret. I tell them it's all thanks to the health hammer—tapping my way to wellness.
Tapping the Soles (Foot Palms) The Yongquan point on the sole is one of the body's primary massage points. Located at the front of the sole, it sits in the depression at the front third of the foot.Regularly stimulating this point with a health hammer dilates local blood vessels, accelerates circulation, promotes sleep, and nourishes liver and kidney qi and blood. Method: Before bed each night, tap both soles while watching TV. Start by tapping the center of each foot 150 times, then tap the surrounding areas (including heels and sides) 150 times per foot. Complete both feet in 4-5 minutes. Each morning, rub the Yongquan points on both feet with your thumbs, 100 times each.
Tapping the palms: The center of the palm is the Laogong point. Each morning and evening, tap the Laogong points on both palms 100 times each, followed by tapping the entire palm over 100 times. Additionally, regularly press the Laogong points with your thumb to promote the circulation of qi, blood, and body fluids, and regulate organ function.
Tapping the Dazhui and Jianjing Points: The Dazhui point is located at the spinous process of the seventh cervical vertebra, the highest point in this area, hence its name. The Jianjing point is situated on the shoulder, named for the hollow depression beneath it. Regularly tapping and stimulating these points and the surrounding muscle tissue promotes blood circulation and helps prevent and treat shoulder-neck syndrome.Method: Tap the muscles around both Dazhui and Jianjing points (including the back of the neck) for 2-3 minutes. Perform once daily in the morning, afternoon, and evening. For those with cervical spondylosis or frozen shoulder, tapping can be done anytime. Immediate relief and comfort are felt after each session. Combining with cervical exercises or massage enhances effectiveness.
It is advisable to prepare two health hammers (typically wooden): a smaller one with a 3.5 cm diameter for summer use or bedside use; and a larger one with a 4.5 cm diameter for winter use when wearing more layers (no need to remove excessively thick clothing). Apply moderate force during tapping, ensuring it feels comfortable and effective. Do not rush this method; consistent practice will yield excellent results.
