Spring is the season of rebirth, when warmth returns and flowers bloom. It's a time for dreams to take flight—and certainly a season to roll up our sleeves and work hard. So no matter how you look at it, we need to eat nutritious, wholesome foods. But what should we eat in spring? As an old farmer, I'd say spring has already prepared a menu for us: seasonal spring vegetables. Let's take a look together.
1. Spring Bamboo Shoots As the name suggests, spring bamboo shoots emerge only in spring, differing from winter bamboo shoots. They offer excellent dietary benefits for constipation.
2. Chinese Toon Tree Shoots These tender spring buds from the Chinese toon tree boast a delicious flavor and exceptional nutritional value, while also stimulating appetite.
3. Emperor's Greens Also known as "Emperor's Greens," this authentic imperial dish is a staple in hotpot meals.
4. Asparagus, also known as stone pine or dragon beard vegetable in some regions, boosts immunity and prevents colds. Its low sugar content makes it ideal for diabetics.
5. Lettuce contains high potassium levels, effectively maintaining fluid balance and benefiting those with hypertension or heart conditions.
6. Peas contain all essential amino acids for the human body. Regular consumption greatly benefits children's growth and development.
These are all dishes featured on spring menus. In the eyes of seasoned farmers, this season of birdsong and blossoms is the perfect time to enjoy them in abundance.
