For many men, scrotal inflammation should not be ignored. Reproductive health specialists note that untreated scrotal inflammation can severely impact fertility in severe cases. To treat scrotal inflammation, we must first understand its causes and types. Recognizing its risks and practicing daily care are also crucial.
What factors contribute to scrotal inflammation?
1. Vitamin B deficiency: Patients often exhibit picky eating habits, and the resulting lack of vitamin B may trigger scrotal inflammation. This deficiency can also lead to complications like oral ulcers and angular cheilitis. Individuals deficient in vitamin B should consume foods such as soybeans, peanuts, fish, and organ meats.
2. Lifestyle and habits: Individuals engaged in physical labor may experience scrotal moisture due to frequent sweating, exposing the scrotal skin to sweat irritation and underwear friction. Those who sit for prolonged periods are also prone to developing scrotal inflammation.
3. Bacterial Infections: Poor hygiene allows bacterial invasion, triggering inflammation. Examples include candidal scrotal inflammation and tinea cruris spreading to the scrotum, both causing scrotal itching.
Three Types of Scrotal Inflammation
1. Erythematous Type: Symmetrically distributed on both sides of the scrotum, measuring approximately 3×4 cm. Features well-defined erythema covered by grayish or brownish scabs with a rough surface. Removing the scabs reveals slightly reddened skin without significant infiltration. Lesions may coalesce at the penile base as they expand.
2. Papular Type: Begins with scattered, pea-sized papules on one side of the scrotum. These are markedly elevated, flat, and covered with thin, brownish crusts. They subsequently increase in number and size, densely and symmetrically distributed along both sides of the scrotal raphe, forming patches approximately 3×4 cm in size. These patches may coalesce, often extending to the base of the scrotum. The coronal sulcus of the penis exhibits irregular, markedly elevated gray-black crusts, while the shaft shows grayish scaling. Scattered folliculitis or pustules may occur in the pubic and inguinal regions.
3.White Papular Psoriasiform Type: This variant is rare but highly characteristic. A large area on the anterior scrotum consists of flat papules, each about the size of a melon seed, fused together. They exhibit a silvery-white appearance, and scratching causes silvery-white scales to shed.
What are the risks of scrotal inflammation?
1. Causes dead sperm, azoospermia, and loss of fertility. Additionally, it can transmit inflammatory pathogens to partners, leading to gynecological diseases.
2. Decreased or complete loss of male sexual function.
3. Triggering severe conditions: epididymitis, varicocele, spermatic cord inflammation, prostatitis, endocrine disorders, nephritis and other kidney diseases, urinary tract infections, malignant tumors, etc.
IV. Persistent scrotal disorders may lead to depletion of semen and kidney essence, exhaustion of vital energy, cold limbs, lower back pain, and premature aging.
V. Infertility: Scrotal inflammation can cause dead sperm, azoospermia, infertility, and transmission of infectious pathogens to partners.
What are the care measures for scrotal inflammation?
1. Maintain hygiene: Practice good personal hygiene, avoid excessive masturbation, limit sexual activity to once or twice weekly, and use condoms during intercourse. Avoid prolonged horseback riding, cycling, or sitting; office workers should stand and move around for a few minutes every hour. Refrain from wearing tight jeans and ensure undergarments are loose and breathable.
2. Lifestyle Details: Patients with scrotal inflammation should pay extra attention to daily habits. Those with cavities or other inflammatory infections should avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as alcohol dilates blood vessels, causing congestion in affected tissues and worsening symptoms. Follow a bland diet, abstain from alcohol, and avoid spicy or irritating foods to prevent prostate congestion.
III. Strengthen Exercise: The most crucial principle for preventing scrotal inflammation is to enhance physical exercise, boost immunity, and avoid upper respiratory infections like the common cold. Prostatitis patients should undergo standardized treatment to prevent the condition from spreading to the seminal vesicles. It is especially important to promptly treat cavities, prevent diarrhea, and not overlook infections in other parts of the body.
