Diagnostic Methods for Necrospermia
1. Semen Analysis: When male sperm or semen quality is suspected, routine semen analysis is essential. This serves as the primary diagnostic basis for necrospermia. Note that two semen samples must be collected for testing.
2. Testicular biopsy: This method primarily assesses whether spermatogonial cells in the testes are normal, particularly to determine if spermatogenesis is functioning properly, thereby ruling out testicular spermatogenesis disorders as the cause.
3. Laboratory Tests: These primarily involve examining secretions from male reproductive organs, including semen microscopy, prostate fluid analysis, semen microbiology testing, semen biochemical analysis, hematospermia evaluation, and seminal plasma anti-sperm antibody testing.
4. Medical History and Physical Examination: This primarily assesses whether the patient has a history of related diseases or conditions, such as reproductive tract infections that may cause necrospermia, as well as exposure to tobacco, alcohol, or high-temperature environments.
5. Endocrine Testing: Primarily involves measuring serum FSH and T levels. If T levels are abnormally low, further assessment of LH and prolactin levels is necessary to determine if endocrine dysfunction is the cause.
