Many assume only women develop breast-related diseases, unaware that men can also be affected. Male breast diseases primarily strike those aged 65-70, with an incidence rate of 1 in 200,000. So what causes male breast diseases? How can they be prevented? Here are the answers.
The main causes of male breast diseases are:
1. Genetic predisposition.
2. Impaired liver function. When the liver's detoxification capacity weakens, estrogen cannot be properly metabolized. Additionally, if androgens convert to estrogen due to certain factors, these men are prone to gynecomastia or breast diseases.
3. Obesity and unhealthy lifestyle habits increase the risk of breast diseases.
4. High radiation exposure. Prolonged exposure to strong radiation environments also increases men's risk of developing breast diseases.
How to Prevent Mastitis
1. Maintain breast hygiene to prevent bacterial infection.
Clean breasts to remove nipple residue; wash nipples before breastfeeding, especially if cracked; avoid breast compression and wear loose-fitting clothing.
2. Perform regular self-massage.
Develop a habit of self-massaging the breasts.Method: Support the breast with a warm towel in one hand. Place the other hand on the upper side of the breast and massage in a clockwise direction. Apply slightly more pressure if the breast feels tender or if a lump is present. While massaging, gently squeeze the breast to express milk from the nipple. Repeat several times to clear the milk ducts. Massage once daily for 15-20 minutes.
3. Limit consumption of pungent foods such as scallions, ginger, and garlic.
Traditional Chinese medicine attributes acute mastitis to internal heat accumulation and toxic heat stagnation. Therefore, reduce intake of heat-inducing foods to prevent aggravating inflammation.
4. Preventive dietary therapy.Regularly consume seaweed, which softens hardened masses and disperses nodules. Enjoy it in cold salads or stewed with chicken to prevent acute mastitis. For early symptoms, decoct 30g dandelion and 6g dried tangerine peel daily.
