With changes in living environments, lifestyles, and disease patterns, sperm quality among men worldwide is steadily declining. The average sperm concentration decreases by 1% annually. At this rate, it is conceivable that men may lose their fertility within 100 years.
Clinical surveys indicate that 10% to 15% of married couples cannot conceive naturally. In clinical diagnosis and treatment, infertility causes are equally attributed to both partners. In recent years, male infertility cases have increased annually, with the proportion of infertile adult men exceeding 10%. This translates to approximately one in ten adult men being infertile.
Male infertility stems from multiple factors. Environmental degradation ranks first—air pollution from vehicle emissions and excessive exposure to electromagnetic fields from modern electronics. Lifestyle choices follow: smoking, heavy drinking, insufficient rest, chronic sleep deprivation, and excessive computer/mobile phone use.Particularly problematic is prolonged sitting—whether for hours online or during card games—which causes excessive blood congestion in the lower body. Frequent steam baths, hot baths, scalding water baths, or wearing tight pants can also suppress sperm production, leading to weak or abnormally shaped sperm. These factors collectively contribute to the rising number of male infertility cases.
