Understanding the Role of Zinc
Zinc is an essential trace element for the human body. Deficiency triggers biochemical imbalances, leading to physiological dysfunction in tissues and organs, and potentially pathological changes.
Men with infertility should not blindly supplement zinc
Many believe zinc deficiency reduces sperm quality, and some patients mistakenly assume that large zinc supplements are a cure for infertility. However, zinc does not play a major role in the causes of male infertility.
Extensive research data shows that when dividing male subjects into fertile and infertile groups for zinc content testing, no significant correlation was found between zinc levels in the two groups. This indicates no scientific basis linking zinc deficiency to male infertility. While moderate zinc supplementation may offer some supportive benefits for male reproductive function, indiscriminate supplementation is inadvisable.
