Which body areas should be tapped to ward off illness?
1. Armpits
The armpits offer significant health benefits. The Jiquan acupoint located within the armpit helps unblock meridians, activate collaterals, and regulate chest qi. Regularly massaging this area can prevent pulmonary heart disease and coronary heart disease. The primary method involves crossing your arms across your chest, using both hands to gently press one armpit. Apply moderate pressure until a mild soreness or tingling sensation is felt, massaging for three minutes. Then raise your right arm to expose the armpit, using your left palm to tap the right armpit 50 times. Repeat this sequence five times on each side.
2. Elbow Pit
The elbow pit is the triangular depression in front of the elbow joint. Meridians converge densely here, and regular massage promotes blood circulation, dispels stagnation, and detoxifies. Extend the arm with the elbow pit facing upward. Use the opposite hand to gently tap the elbow pit 100 times per arm.
3. Navel Area
The navel houses an acupoint called Shenque, which treats abdominal pain, enteritis, rectal prolapse, dysentery, and urinary retention. Lie flat on your back and gently tap the navel area with your hand, performing one hundred taps.
4. Lumbar Hollow
Regularly tapping the lumbar hollow can treat endometritis and lumbar muscle strain. Sit upright on a chair with your upper body slightly leaning forward. Use both palms to tap the area about ten times. However, individuals with osteoporosis or cardiovascular diseases should not use this method.
5. Popliteal Fossa
Located in the diamond-shaped depression behind the knee, this area contains abundant nerves and blood vessels. Regular massage can relieve calf fatigue, sciatica, lower back pain, abdominal discomfort, and neck stiffness. Place both thumbs on either side of the fossa and press until a sensation of soreness is felt. Repeat 20 times consecutively.
Important Note
While the above tapping techniques can enhance immunity and alleviate various ailments, be mindful of the force applied to avoid causing localized pain. When tapping, maintain full-body relaxation, steady breathing, and even pressure. Gradually increase intensity as tolerated, adjusting taps based on individual constitution and age. Ensure coordinated, rhythmic movements with elasticity—avoid random or forceful tapping. Individuals with cardiovascular or cerebrovascular conditions should refrain from body tapping.
