Generally categorized into four types: mild ptosis, moderate ptosis, severe ptosis, and extreme ptosis.
Moderate ptosis: The lower pole of the breast extends 2-3 cm beyond the inframammary fold.
Severe ptosis: The lower pole of the breast extends 4-10 cm beyond the inframammary fold.
Extreme ptosis: The lower pole of the breast extends more than 10 cm beyond the inframammary fold.
Internal Causes of Breast Ptosis
1. Breastfeeding-induced ptosis. After lactation ceases, reduced hormone levels cause atrophy of alveolar ducts, glandular tissue, and fat. Excess skin and supporting tissue relative to these structures then leads to sagging.
2. Breast ptosis caused by weight loss. Rapid weight loss leads to laxity in both the fatty tissue and skin within the breast. This is commonly seen in middle-aged and young women.
3. Senile breast ptosis. As people age, various bodily functions decline, including endocrine function.In older women, breast sagging results from significant degeneration and atrophy of the skin, supporting tissues, fat, and glands, leading to a hollow, pouch-like drooping appearance. How to Prevent Breast Sagging I. Prevention for Unmarried and Childless Women 1. Avoid breast impact or compression;Pay attention to sleeping posture—avoid lying prone; supine position is recommended;
2. Regularly perform breast massage that meets health requirements (daily, while lying supine, use your left hand to support the base of the left breast; simultaneously, use your right palm to apply opposing pressure to the left hand, pushing toward the nipple 20–30 times; then repeat the same method for the right breast);
3. Incorporate inverted postures or exercises with the head in a lowered position;
4. Women in specialized occupations such as athletes, dancers, or those engaged in heavy physical labor should prioritize wearing specialized sports bras.
II. Preventing Breast Sagging After Childbirth
1. Proper breastfeeding techniques during lactation:
During breastfeeding, mothers should adopt proper feeding techniques, alternating between breasts. If the baby empties only one breast, use a breast pump to express milk from the other side to maintain symmetry. Avoid allowing the baby to pull on the nipple during feeding. Simultaneously, prevent mastitis during lactation.
2. Breast showering:
During bathing, use a showerhead to spray the breasts. Alternating between hot and cold water is recommended. This contrast stimulation helps improve skin elasticity and promotes blood circulation in the breasts.
3. Consistent bra wearing:
Begin wearing a bra consistently from the breastfeeding period.Without support, increased breast weight can cause noticeable sagging, especially during activities like work or walking that involve significant breast movement. A bra provides essential support and lift, ensuring proper blood circulation. This benefits milk production, enhances the breasts' resistance to disease, and protects nipples from chafing and pain.When selecting a bra, choose a properly fitting style with underwire support. After putting it on, adjust it by gently gathering any excess skin around the breasts into the bra cups with both hands to achieve a fuller, more lifted appearance.
Massage is also highly beneficial for shaping beautiful breasts, and it's quite simple.
1. Begin at the center of the breast and massage upward in circular motions toward the collarbone.
2. Starting from the outer edge of the breast, use small circular motions to massage in a spiral pattern.
3. Gently grasp each breast with both palms and lift upward slightly, avoiding excessive pressure. Spend 5 minutes daily after bathing on massage, repeating each step 8-10 times.
Diet also plays a crucial role in maintaining beautiful breasts. Increase intake of cabbage, cauliflower, and protein-rich foods like dairy products, lean meats, eggs, and soy products. Additionally, animal organs, fish, eggs, mung bean sprouts, and fresh fruits are rich in vitamin B—an essential component for estrogen synthesis. Estrogen secretion promotes breast and nipple development, gradually enhancing breast fullness and firmness.
