Thick calluses and corns are common foot ailments, but few realize similar issues can develop on the buttocks—especially among those who sit for extended periods. Prolonged inactivity causes the buttocks to become sluggish. If the skin there appears dark red or black, it may signal excessive sitting, compromising buttock health or indicating a skin condition.
While darkened skin on the buttocks was once more common among taxi, train, and long-distance bus drivers, it now increasingly affects young adults and office workers. This is primarily due to office workers sitting for extended periods, leading to poor local circulation in the buttocks. Combined with the vigorous sebaceous gland activity common in people aged 20 to 30, local irritation becomes more pronounced. Repeated friction or irritation can cause excessive proliferation of the skin's stratum corneum. Additionally, many neglect proper care for their buttocks, resulting in severe dehydration of the skin. Consequently, the local skin gradually becomes rough, hardened, and even darkened.
The body primarily expels toxins through the anus, leading to long-term accumulation of melanin and external toxins. Some cases may be genetic. If you notice small bumps or itching, this is mainly due to poor local blood circulation from prolonged sitting. Increased physical activity is recommended.
