Yet despite this vast market, achieving safe aesthetic enhancement remains a challenge. Analysis of Six High-Risk Areas for Facial Filler Injections
Ensuring both effectiveness and safety in aesthetic enhancement remains a significant challenge. The current domestic medical aesthetics market is characterized by chaos, including a lack of standardized regulations and oversight, varying levels of practitioner skill, and widespread use of counterfeit materials.Media frequently exposes cases where individuals become "micro-cosmetic experts" after just five days of training, then begin injecting patients... Consequently, medical aesthetic accidents continue to erupt. Professor Song Jianxing, Executive Director of the Chinese Association of Plastic Surgery, discussed the micro-cosmetic market: indeed, micro-cosmetic procedures involve minimal trauma and quick recovery, currently dominating the aesthetic market far more than surgical procedures. However, a single misstep can cause catastrophic, even life-altering harm to patients.
The human face is densely populated with sensory nerves, motor nerves, blood vessels of varying sizes, and multiple interconnected muscles. As the saying goes, "Pull one hair and the whole body moves." Therefore, doctors performing injectable treatments must receive professional medical education, pass rigorous examinations, and obtain both a physician qualification certificate and a physician practice license."Don't assume injections are simple. Every step requires careful consideration by the doctor. If the practitioner lacks skill, complications like embolism, inflammation, or necrosis can easily occur." Professor Song Jianxing specifically warns that six high-risk injection sites include the eyebrows and glabella, nasolabial folds, nose, temporal and forehead regions, lips and perioral area, and the suborbital zone.
Professor Song Jianxing explained that the temporal and periorbital areas feature dense vascular networks and thin fat layers. After delineating the injection zone preoperatively, one must carefully observe blood vessel patterns to select the optimal needle entry point.Needle insertion must avoid being too superficial, as this can cause orange peel-like texture and unevenness in the treated area. Conversely, excessive depth should be avoided due to the rich arterial supply in the muscle layer, which may lead to unnecessary bleeding, bruising, and compromised aesthetic outcomes. Additionally, deeper injections accelerate product resorption. Thus, the practitioner's expertise, technique, and choice of injectable product are critically important.
Experts further advised that before selecting hyaluronic acid, it is essential to understand the critical distinction between soft and firm formulations. Different injection layers and areas require hyaluronic acids with varying physical properties and viscoelasticity.
