Many people notice their teeth turning yellow, diminishing their confidence when smiling. So, what methods can help us regain bright, white teeth and a confident smile?
Teeth Whitening Home Remedy
1 strawberry, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
Mash the strawberry into a paste, thoroughly mix with baking soda, and apply the mixture evenly to your teeth using a soft toothbrush. After 5 minutes, brush off the mixture with toothpaste and rinse your mouth.
Swish household vinegar (aged vinegar or white vinegar works, but not vinegar essence) in your mouth for 1 to 3 minutes, then spit it out and brush your teeth. This method is highly effective! However, teeth may feel intensely acidic and numb (lasting about 2 minutes). Avoid frequent use—apply only every 2 months or so. Continuous use is harmful. This is an emergency fix (e.g., before a date when teeth appear yellow) and also eliminates bad breath.
Dry orange peels, grind into powder, mix with toothpaste, and brush. Teeth will whiten quickly.
When brushing, add a pinch of yeast powder to your toothbrush to help whiten teeth (a method often used by models).
After brushing, dip your toothbrush in lemon juice and wipe each tooth.
Proper Tooth Whitening Brushing Techniques
Do not wet your toothbrush before brushing.
A wet brush produces excessive foam, leading people to mistakenly believe they've brushed sufficiently. This often results in spitting out or rinsing away the foam before achieving thorough cleaning. The correct method is to brush slowly without water until only a light foam forms.
Brush vertically, not horizontally
Many people brush back and forth horizontally, which fails to clean debris between teeth effectively. Vertical brushing prevents gum damage and other issues.
Avoid brushing with cold water
Cold water is detrimental for those with sensitive teeth and hinders the effectiveness of many active ingredients in toothpaste. Fluoride and other beneficial compounds in toothpaste function best at around 37°C (98.6°F).
Choose a toothbrush neither too large nor too small
A toothbrush that's too large makes it difficult to brush effectively back and forth, can damage the mouth, and lacks flexibility during brushing.A toothbrush that is too small cannot fully cover the teeth, resulting in inadequate cleaning.
Avoid brushing immediately upon waking and eating breakfast right after brushing
Brushing teeth upon waking is a common habit among many Chinese people, especially office workers who often eat breakfast immediately after brushing. This prevents the effective tooth-protecting ingredients in toothpaste from having sufficient time and opportunity to remain on the teeth, instead being swallowed.
Avoid brushing too hard
Excessive force can cause gum damage and mouth sores. Remember to use moderate pressure while brushing.
