In recent years, the micro-cosmetic trend has exploded. Not only have cosmetic surgery clinics proliferated, but even many beauty salons, nail salons, and barbershops without medical aesthetics qualifications have joined the micro-cosmetic bandwagon. These establishments lack both credentials and access to legitimate injectable products, resorting instead to purchasing counterfeit drugs for injections on their clients.Recently, authorities in Anhui arrested a nail salon owner for selling counterfeit cosmetic injections. In a shocking act, she tested the fake drugs on her own daughter's face after purchasing them.
Wang, 45, operated a nail salon near Hefei Railway Station. To boost profits, she purchased a batch of counterfeit cosmetic injections at low prices and administered them to customers at inflated rates.
According to Wang's confession, she connected with an online acquaintance involved in pharmaceutical sales in April this year. She subsequently purchased 13 bottles of counterfeit injections from this contact, spending 4,400 yuan.
To test the product's effectiveness, Wang shockingly injected her own daughter—a freshman in college—with one dose. She then advertised on social media, claiming her beauty injections cost as low as several hundred yuan and no more than 1,500 yuan. Several customers subsequently visited her shop for the counterfeit treatments.
Fortunately, by the time police apprehended Wang, none of the recipients—including her daughter—had exhibited adverse reactions.
Investigations revealed Wang sold counterfeit products from multiple renowned domestic and international brands, indistinguishable from genuine items by appearance alone.
Public Health Network editors reiterate: Legitimate injectable treatments are exclusively available at certified medical aesthetic institutions. Beauty salons, wellness centers, and nail studios lack access to proper pharmaceuticals. Seekers of beauty must never risk their facial integrity and life safety by prioritizing cheapness or convenience.
