Unexpectedly, her nose became bruised and swollen post-procedure, prompting her to immediately report the incident to the police. Investigators discovered the hyaluronic acid used was counterfeit, and the person administering the injections was merely a manicurist who had undergone only three days of basic training.
Ms. Zhang stated that the clinic charged only 1,500 yuan for a single hyaluronic acid injection. She was initially drawn by the low price, but after the procedure, her nasal bridge became bruised and swollen, with the swelling refusing to subside.
Police officers explained that upon receiving Ms. Zhang's report, they conducted a surprise inspection of the salon. At the time, owner Shi was preparing to administer facial slimming injections to another customer! Officers discovered botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, and other injectable drugs at the salon. Shi admitted she purchased these products via WeChat, typically paying around 100 yuan per item but selling them for approximately 2,000 yuan.
None of Shi's products were listed in China's official drug registry, confirming they were counterfeit.
Beyond using fake drugs, Shi possessed no medical training whatsoever. Originally a nail technician, she had only received three days of injection training elsewhere. She administered hyaluronic acid and slimming injections to customers without any qualifications or sanitary precautions.
It's understood that many clients who received injections here experienced facial bruising and stiff jaw muscles, but Shi dismissed these complaints with various excuses. She is currently under criminal detention on suspicion of selling counterfeit drugs.
