Many women notice that as they reach a certain age, their complexion becomes increasingly sallow. Their faces no longer possess the rosy, youthful glow of their younger years, transforming them into what is aptly termed a "yellow-faced woman." Whether you're just entering your twenties or navigating menopause, this is one of the most common concerns plaguing women. It has little to do with age itself; the primary issue is iron deficiency.Iron-deficiency anemia occurs when the body's iron stores cannot meet the demands of normal red blood cell production. It results from insufficient iron intake, reduced absorption, increased requirements, impaired iron utilization, or excessive loss. The most obvious sign is a "sallow and emaciated" appearance, but you can also assess whether you have iron-deficiency anemia through the following symptoms.
3 Symptoms to Identify Iron-Deficiency Anemia:
1. Rough, ridged, or spoon-shaped nails; glossitis (inflamed tongue); cracked corners of the mouth; hair loss; dry skin.
Exercise causes rapid heartbeat. Severe anemia in women may lead to congestive heart failure and even edema.
Women with iron-deficiency anemia may also experience amenorrhea, irregular menstruation, and cold intolerance.
3. Poor complexion, pale or waxy skin tone, insomnia with vivid dreams, fatigue, decreased appetite, abdominal distension, diarrhea, and in severe cases, difficulty swallowing.
