"Mouse hand," also known as carpal tunnel syndrome, refers to symptoms caused by compression of the median nerve within the passageway entering the palm. This primarily results in pain, numbness in the index and middle fingers, and weakness in the thumb muscles.In modern times, an increasing number of people spend long hours daily using computers. These internet users often repeat typing and mouse-moving motions on keyboards, causing wrist joints to experience prolonged, intensive, repetitive, and excessive activity. This leads to numbness, swelling, pain, and spasms in the wrist muscles or joints, rapidly making this condition increasingly common.
What are some strategies to prevent "mouse hand"?
Method 1: Maintain proper posture. Position the keyboard directly in front of you. Neither the keyboard nor mouse should be placed too high. When your arms hang naturally, the height of your elbows should match the placement of your keyboard and mouse.
Method 2: Users with the means should consider ergonomic keyboards and mice sized to fit their hand shape. This significantly enhances comfort and helps prevent "mouse hand."
Method 3: Use a watch as an aid. Rotate your wrist clockwise and counterclockwise 25 times each.
