Consequently, many people opt for partial eyebrow trimming. This procedure also directly lifts the eyebrows, creating a more youthful appearance around the eyes. In this sense, it achieves two goals at once.
Direct eyebrow lifting to rejuvenate the eye area has long been popular in the West. This involves excising a strip of skin along the upper edge of the eyebrow and suturing the brow upward to lift the tail. In contrast, indirect eyebrow lifting uses a small incision at the hairline to elevate the eyebrow, leaving no visible scar in the brow area—making it particularly suitable for Asian features.
Types of Procedures
1. Total Eyebrow Resection with Brow Lift
Primarily indicated for cases where repeated eyebrow tattoo removal has caused scarring and sparse eyebrow hair; or where tattooed eyebrow pigment (typically light brown or dark blue) persists as thick, dark lines across the brow ridge, resistant to removal by laser or other methods.Complete eyebrow removal is essential. To achieve a scarless outcome, precise incision placement is crucial, ensuring any minor scarring falls within the area for future eyebrow tattooing or makeup application. Depending on the degree of skin laxity in the upper eyelid and lateral canthus, excess skin from the upper eyelid and temporal region may be appropriately excised.Currently, the incision is made in the eyebrow area down to the superficial subcutaneous layer, avoiding damage to the deep supraorbital nerve and vascular bundles to prevent long-term numbness in the scalp and forehead. Additionally, subcutaneous suturing uses imported absorbable sutures, with dermal suturing. The incision surface is closed with adhesive tape, resulting in extremely inconspicuous postoperative scars. This represents the most ideal eyebrow reduction surgical method and technique.Eyebrow makeup can be applied 8 days post-surgery, with permanent eyebrow tattooing recommended 1-3 months later.
An incision approximately 1mm below the eyebrow margin is made. The incision design and range of excess skin removal are determined based on the desired eyebrow lowering and the degree of upper eyelid skin laxity. Different skin excision patterns are designed for the inner, middle, and outer areas of the lax upper eyelid skin. After removing excess skin, the subcutaneous and dermal layers are sutured with imported absorbable sutures, and the skin surface is closed using a suture-free adhesive technique.
3. Brow Lift via Upper Brow Resection
Suitable for individuals with lax upper eyelid skin and normal brow structure/shape, but with a low brow position. The incision is designed 1mm above the brow margin. The shape, size of skin to be removed above the brow, and partial brow hair removal are determined based on the degree of skin laxity and brow ptosis.
4. Central Brow Resection with Cross-Incision
Suitable for drooping outer brows, downward-shifted outer canthi, and laxity in the lateral upper eyelid skin—sometimes presenting as triangular eyes. Also indicated for scarring or hyperpigmentation at the outer brow while the medial brow and central brow maintain normal shape and position.This procedure involves scarless lateral brow excision and removal of excess lateral upper eyelid skin. It corrects upper eyelid laxity, elevates the outer canthus, eliminates temporal wrinkles, rejuvenates the eye and facial area, and improves brow shape—effectively achieving dual benefits with a single surgery.
Suitable Candidates:
Individuals with sparse eyebrows or those who prefer eyebrow tattooing.
Preoperative Considerations:
1. Avoid aspirin-containing medications for two weeks prior to surgery, as aspirin reduces platelet coagulation function;
2. Patients with hypertension or diabetes must fully disclose their medical history during the initial consultation to enable the attending physician to confirm the surgical plan;
3. Ensure good overall health with no infectious diseases or active inflammation prior to surgery;
4. Refrain from wearing makeup before the procedure;
5. Women should schedule outside menstrual and lactation cycles;
Post-Eyebrow Reshaping Surgery Precautions:
1. Avoid getting the surgical area wet for 7 days post-surgery;
2. Keep the surgical site clean to prevent infection. If scabs or secretions form on the wound, gently wipe with sterile saline solution.
