After age 40, even the strongest physiques begin to decline, making health preservation crucial. Cultivating wellness during your body's prime period yields twice the results with half the effort.
The prime wellness periods are: one hour before bedtime and half an hour after meals. Consistently prioritizing these daily windows will naturally enhance your physical well-being.
Half an hour after breakfast: Unblock the longevity meridian
After breakfast, massage your knees, which contain numerous acupoints. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) holds that the stomach meridian—referred to as the "longevity meridian" in TCM meridian theory—is most active between 7 and 9 a.m. and passes through the knee joint. Regular massage benefits this meridian. However, avoid excessive exercise after breakfast, as it may cause indigestion.
Close your eyes to nourish liver blood half an hour after lunch
After lunch, take a ten-minute nap or simply close your eyes to rest. This allows more blood to flow to the liver, effectively nourishing yin, reducing dryness, protecting the liver, and aiding digestion.
Half an hour after dinner: Drink water and tap the Ren Meridian
Drinking water half an hour after dinner enhances digestive function. Tapping the Ren Meridian further aids digestion and strengthens the body. Avoid drinking tea, soaking feet, or bathing immediately after dinner, as these are not beneficial for health.
One hour before bedtime
Foot soak: Promotes sleep and nourishes kidneys
The soles of the feet contain numerous acupoints and are the farthest point from the heart. Soaking feet in warm water before sleep improves blood circulation, accelerates metabolism, and allows the kidneys to relax fully.
Abdominal Massage: Regulates Spleen and Stomach
Lying flat on your back before bed and massaging your abdomen regulates the spleen and stomach, prevents illness, and provides auxiliary treatment for many chronic conditions like diabetes, nephritis, hypertension, coronary heart disease, and pulmonary heart disease.
Combing hair: Lowers blood pressure
Before bed, use a wooden comb to brush from the forehead down to the back of the head for about five minutes. This stimulates yang energy, promotes blood circulation, prevents hair loss and graying, lowers blood pressure, and helps prevent cerebral hemorrhage and dementia.
