Rhinoplasty gives us a well-defined, lifted nose. So, what does post-operative care entail? After rhinoplasty, proper aftercare is essential to effectively prevent complications and significantly aid recovery.
Post-rhinoplasty care specifics are outlined below:
1. The night after rhinoplasty: A small amount of bloody fluid may drain from the surgical incision inside the nostrils, or scabs may form at the nostril edges. Mild swelling and tenderness may occur at the nasal tip and bridge. Swelling begins to develop in the mid-face region.
2. Days 2–3 after rhinoplasty:Nasal and facial pain largely subsides, but swelling becomes increasingly noticeable. Facial bruising appears around the eyes, resembling "panda eyes," and the external nasal contour remains indistinct. Conjunctival bruising may also occur.
3. Days 3–6: Swelling gradually diminishes, and the bruised areas around the eyes shift from red to yellow. Tenderness persists at the nasal tip and bridge. For those with conjunctival bruising, this phase sees the bruising largely disappear.
4. Seven days after rhinoplasty: Swelling has subsided, facial bruising has been absorbed, but the nasal shape remains unnatural. The skin on the nasal bridge and tip appears shiny. The incision has fully healed, and pressing it causes no pain.
