Rhinoplasty primarily involves several steps. First, selecting the implant material, which determines the surgical approach. Second, choosing the anesthesia method—rhinoplasty can be performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the procedure.
If the surgeon opts for general anesthesia, you will remain asleep throughout the procedure with no sensation. With local anesthesia, you will stay awake but experience numbness in the nose and surrounding tissues. You may occasionally feel slight discomfort—simply relax.
Finally, the rhinoplasty begins. The procedure typically takes 1-2 hours, though more complex surgeries may require additional time.During the procedure, the surgeon makes a small incision inside the nostril or along the columella. The skin is then lifted away from the underlying nasal cartilage and bone. Based on your preferences and the surgeon's technique, the nasal bone and cartilage are sculpted, or a pre-shaped implant is inserted to achieve the desired outcome. Finally, the skin is sutured back into place.
