Potential Adverse Reactions to Rhinoplasty: Serious complications are rare when patients strictly follow medical instructions. However, improper care may occasionally lead to the following symptoms:
1. Localized Swelling: Swelling typically begins to subside after 2-3 days and resolves completely within 2 weeks.
2. Implant rejection:
Persistent swelling beyond 3 weeks, accompanied by yellow discharge from the incision, may indicate rejection of the silicone implant. Implant removal is necessary.
3. Infection:
Wound infection is uncommon. If it occurs, anti-inflammatory and anti-infective treatment can be administered. If inflammation spreads to the surgical area, the implant must be removed.
4. Skin Bruising:
Most commonly seen on the nasal bridge, caused by repeated forceful insertion of an oversized implant leading to subcutaneous tissue contusion. It generally resolves on its own.
