With the growth of medical tourism in South Korea, many international patients choose to undergo rhinoplasty and eyelid surgery there. However, improper post-operative care can lead to complications. So, what details should we pay attention to after surgery?
How soon after rhinoplasty can I perm or dye my hair?
Avoid hair coloring or perming for one month post-surgery. This applies not only to nose and eye procedures but also to facial contouring surgeries. Hair coloring agents are chemical substances that can severely damage hair follicles and pigment cells, while also irritating the skin's surface. These treatments may lead to infection at the surgical site, cause skin inflammation, and potentially delay wound healing.
Is cold compressing necessary after rhinoplasty?
Post-rhinoplasty swelling is normal. Experts recommend cold compresses for 2-3 days followed by warm compresses for 3-4 days. Early cold compresses help constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling, while later warm compresses promote blood circulation and aid recovery.
Can I sleep on my stomach after rhinoplasty?
Many assume the implant might shift easily post-surgery, but this is unlikely. Within the first week, doctors secure the implant with bandages and splints. Unless deliberately bumped, the implant generally stays in place. Thus, sleeping position typically doesn't significantly impact recovery. However, avoid putting pressure on your nose for the first week.
What if the splint falls off before sutures are removed?
It's common for surgical bandages to come loose on their own. If this occurs after rhinoplasty, contact your surgeon immediately to find a solution.
Additionally, to achieve optimal results from rhinoplasty, the surgical site must be kept clean and dry to prevent infection. After rhinoplasty, avoid spicy or irritating foods, refrain from pressing on the surgical area, prevent the nose from being bumped or scraped, temporarily avoid wearing glasses, and try not to apply pressure to the nose.
