If you are satisfied with your breast augmentation results and experience no complications, congratulations! However, if you notice your breasts feel unnatural, uneven, irregularly shaped, or have unsatisfactory scarring, consult your surgeon immediately.Due to the importance placed on the breasts, breast augmentation has become one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries. As more people undergo breast augmentation, many begin to inquire about how to properly perform post-operative care. Therefore, we are providing the correct post-operative care methods for breast augmentation surgery here.
Following breast augmentation surgery, the incision site will be covered with a simple dressing, with a bandage securing the breast position. After a follow-up examination with your doctor two to three days later, you may resume normal showering. Additional follow-ups are scheduled at one week, one month, and six months post-surgery. The sutures will dissolve automatically within ten days.
During the first month after breast augmentation surgery, wear a well-fitting, soft bra or compression garment as directed by your doctor. Alternatively, leave the breasts uncovered to allow the tissue to naturally form. Initially, the breasts may feel swollen and firm. After one to two months, the texture and shape will appear more natural. When you fully embrace the changes and integrate them into your body, you'll no longer notice the implants, and you'll be fully recovered. Avoid wearing underwire bras for six months after breast augmentation surgery to prevent breast deformation and capsular contracture (fibrous capsule hardening).Avoid sexual activity for two weeks post-surgery to prevent injury to the breasts. If planning pregnancy, it is advisable to wait at least six months after surgery until the breast shape has stabilized. Breast augmentation surgery generally does not affect the ability to breastfeed.
Breast massage should begin one week after surgery. The technique involves gently pushing the breasts upward, outward, and inward, holding each position for ten seconds. Perform this for five minutes on each breast. Do this twice daily for the first month. Starting the second month, continue once nightly for one year. After one year, transition to irregular massages. Breast massage helps relax the fibrous capsule surrounding the implant, effectively reducing the risk of capsular contracture. Therefore, consistent massage is essential.
Taking 800 units of Vitamin E daily (400 units in the morning and evening) for six months after breast augmentation surgery helps prevent capsular contracture and hardening.Scar tissue at the incision site may exhibit hardening, raised appearance, and redness during the first three months post-surgery. However, these typical physiological changes generally fade and become barely noticeable within about six months.
