"Within 24 to 48 hours after breast augmentation surgery, you are likely to experience some discomfort. This commonly includes fatigue, breast swelling, and reduced sensitivity to direct contact."
For the initial period after surgery—typically within six months—it's advisable to avoid wearing bras, especially those with shoulder straps. This is because: 1. Immediately after augmentation, the skin is very taut and doesn't require a bra for support. 2. The tissue structure beneath the pectoral muscles is loose, making implants prone to displacement—particularly upward displacement—due to excessive external force. Therefore, refraining from wearing bras during this short period is recommended.
Sue, a 28-year-old aerobics instructor, also underwent breast augmentation surgery to increase her cup size from A to C. Recently, she underwent another procedure to remove soy-based implants and replace them with silicone ones. This decision was particularly influenced by learning that silicone implants have a lifespan of only about 10 years. But I can no longer adapt to life without breast implants. She says fuller breasts make me look much more energetic and fill me with confidence.
This recovery process is inevitable and must not be rushed. But it's true that most women who undergo breast augmentation recover faster than the average person. My surgery was on Thursday, and I returned to work the following Monday. Of course, there was some mild discomfort during the first week after the procedure.
