According to Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian theory, if a fingertip feels particularly painful, it indicates a problem with the internal organ associated with that acupoint. You may try pinching the base of each fingernail, applying pressure and rotating it, starting from the little finger. Feel for any fingers that are especially painful. Pain in different fingers may indicate issues in different parts of the body. So what are the effects of pressing fingers?
1.Pain in the thumb
Pain when pinching the thumb is associated with the lungs. Traditional Chinese medicine holds that the Shaoshang acupoint on the thumb is closely linked to lung health. If the lungs are diseased, pressing this area can cause excruciating pain.
2. Pain in the ring finger
Pain when pinching the ring finger may indicate throat pain or headaches.TCM notes that the Guan Chong point on the Triple Energizer Meridian of the ring finger can be massaged to alleviate cold symptoms and fever. 3. Pain in the Little Finger Pain in the little finger may indicate heart or small intestine issues. TCM identifies the Shao Chong point near the tip of the little finger on the ring finger side and the Shao Ze point on the opposite side.Shaochong is closely linked to the heart; thus, firmly pressing the tip of the little finger during a heart attack may alleviate symptoms. Shaozhe is the acupoint for the small intestine; pressing it firmly can help when the small intestine is not functioning well.Traditional Chinese medicine identifies the Shangyang point on the index finger as connected to the large intestine. Individuals experiencing constipation who feel deep pain when pressing this finger may indicate large intestine issues.
5. Middle Finger Pain
Pain felt when pinching the middle finger relates to the heart. Traditional Chinese medicine identifies the Zhongchong point on the middle finger, located on the pericardium meridian surrounding the heart. When the heart is overwhelmed by heat, pain may be felt here.
Different fingers are traversed by distinct meridians. By pressing these fingers, one can assess the health status of the corresponding meridian-related organs. Note: Increased computer or phone use in modern life may cause finger joint discomfort in some individuals. This stems from tendon sheath inflammation due to joint overuse and requires differentiation.
