In daily life, we observe that certain skincare products work effectively for some individuals, while others see minimal results with the same product. Therefore, selecting appropriate skincare is crucial. Acne primarily stems from excessive sebum production, blocked hair follicle ducts, bacterial infection, and inflammation.During puberty, elevated levels of androgens—particularly testosterone—stimulate increased sebum production. Concurrently, abnormal keratinization within the follicular sebaceous glands creates conditions conducive to acne development. Hormonal imbalances also play a significant role, as the body may attempt to eliminate accumulated toxins through acne formation when normal detoxification pathways are disrupted.
How to Care for Acne-Prone Skin
1. Apply skincare products according to specific facial areas: Use moisturizing products on dry cheeks and oil-control formulas on the oily T-zone.Minimize use of oil-rich creams on breakout areas; opt for lotions or gel-based formulas instead.
3. Avoid makeup: Foundation, loose powder, concealer, and similar products can obstruct skin respiration, leading to blackheads and acne.
5. Avoid excessive washing: For acne-prone skin, wash no more than 3 times daily in summer and 2 times daily in other seasons. Over-cleansing stimulates oil production. If your face feels greasy, use blotting paper followed by patting on an oil-control toner or mist to absorb excess oil.
6. Drink plenty of plain water: This promotes bodily metabolism.Eat light meals: Avoid spicy and greasy foods, which stimulate oil production.
Since acne appears in different areas, the causes vary, leading to many types of breakouts. Regardless of the type, acne often brings discomfort like itching and redness.
Types of Acne 1. Blackheads: These are cheese-like, semi-solid plugs blocking the sebaceous gland opening in hair follicles. They appear dark due to exposure to air at the follicle's surface. When squeezed, a black tip and a yellowish-white, translucent sebum plug emerge.Papular acne: Primarily characterized by small inflammatory papules, ranging from millet-sized to pea-sized. These are relatively firm, appearing pale red to deep red in color, and may contain a blackhead or a sebaceous plug that has not yet darkened at the center.Pustular acne: Characterized by pustules, ranging from grain-sized to mung bean-sized. Typically involves follicular pustules or pustules forming atop papules. When ruptured, they discharge thick pus and may leave shallow scars after healing.Nodular Acne: Nodules vary in size, some deeply embedded while others protrude prominently as hemispherical or conical lesions. They appear pale red or purplish-red in color.
Acne Type 5. Atrophic Acne: Ulcerated pustules, or papular/pustular acne that resolves spontaneously, can cause fibrous changes and atrophy;
Types of Acne 6. Cystic Acne: These are sebaceous cysts of varying sizes.Often complicated by secondary infection, they may discharge bloody, gelatinous pus upon rupture, though inflammation is typically mild. This frequently leads to sinus tract formation and scarring;
Acne Type 7. Acne Conglobata: The most severe form of skin lesions, presenting polymorphic skin damage. It involves clusters of comedones, papules, pustules,abscesses, cysts, along with clusters of sinus tracts, scars, and keloids.Among bee products, propolis has the strongest antibacterial effect.
