Excess facial oil troubles many with oily skin. So what causes this oiliness, and how can it be managed?
Why Does Facial Oil Occur?
Oily skin is the primary cause. Sebum secretion is a normal physiological process indicating active metabolism. Severe oiliness often stems from dehydrated skin.
External environmental factors also influence oil production. Skin tends to produce more oil in summer than winter, as high temperatures stimulate sebum secretion. Other contributing factors include hormonal imbalances, lack of sleep, smoking and alcohol consumption, stress, medication effects, and diet.
What to Do About Facial Oiliness
1. Dehydration
This type of dehydration cannot be resolved solely by drinking water, which only addresses internal hydration. External hydration is equally crucial. Prioritize moisturizing and choose skincare products that effectively balance hydration and oil control.
2.Avoid staying up late
Many people stay up late due to busy work schedules or excessive phone use. If possible, prioritize getting beauty sleep—it's far more valuable than spending extra time on skin repair. After all, the body's systems have self-regulation mechanisms that perform significant adjustments during sleep.
3. Deep skin cleansing
Daily cleansing must be thorough. Consider using tools like facial cleansing devices for effective cleansing.Exfoliate once or twice monthly to improve excessive oiliness.
4. Adjust your diet
Spicy and stimulating foods trigger sebum production, while greasy foods and excessive meat consumption have the same effect. Increase your intake of vegetables and fruits while reducing oily and spicy foods to see improvement.
