Many people had chickenpox during childhood. When we had it, parents often warned us not to scratch or pick at the itchy spots, lest we end up with unsightly scars. Whether we couldn't resist scratching, the chickenpox was too severe, or someone else did, some people did develop noticeable scars. So, does chickenpox on the face leave scars?
Generally, chickenpox appears more frequently on the torso than on the face or limbs. Under normal circumstances, chickenpox does not leave scars. This is because the lesions only affect the epidermis, not the dermis. Once they naturally subside, they do not cause lasting skin damage.
However, some individuals unable to resist scratching may break the blisters, potentially leading to minor scarring. In cases of severe chickenpox or other unusual forms, more noticeable scars may develop. In such instances, certain home remedies can help improve these chickenpox scars.
1.Palm Massage
If minor scars appear on the face after chickenpox scabs fall off, gently massage the affected area with the base of your palm three times daily for 5-10 minutes each session. This promotes scar absorption and accelerates skin regeneration.
2. L-Ascorbic Acid
Vitamin C possesses skin-brightening properties, and purified L-ascorbic acid delivers even more pronounced whitening effects.Applying it to scars can make dull marks less noticeable. 3. Lavender Essential Oil Lavender essential oil has remarkable scar-reducing properties, effective not only for chickenpox scars but also for acne scars and other traumatic scars. It works best on scars within 1-2 years.
4. Ginger Slice Rubbing
Slice ginger thinly and gently rub the scar to inhibit further granulation tissue growth.
5. Vitamin E Capsules
Vitamin E is highly effective for scar removal. You can puncture a capsule and apply the oil directly to the affected area, or mix it with honey for a full-face mask. Applying Vitamin E at night yields better results. It's recommended to leave it on overnight; by morning, your skin will appear radiant.
Getting chickenpox is an embarrassing experience. While the itching is one thing, the real issue is the facial blisters that often become a target for teasing. In reality, everyone develops facial blisters during chickenpox. Without proper care, unsightly scars can leave lifelong regret. So resist the urge to scratch those minor itches to avoid major scarring.
