Jogging features two key characteristics: comprehensiveness and rhythm. While facial muscles engage minimally, virtually all bodily tissues and organs participate—particularly respiratory, circulatory, and muscular systems—with internal organs no exception.
During running, tissues and organs exercise under physiological conditions, which better facilitates their compensation, repair, and strengthening. Consistent jogging can improve overall blood circulation, enhance lipid metabolism, regulate the excitatory and inhibitory processes of the cerebral cortex, boost metabolism, and increase disease resistance.Research indicates jogging serves as a therapeutic and preventive measure for conditions including skeletal joint disorders, hypertension, coronary heart disease, arteriosclerosis, obesity, neurasthenia, chronic bronchitis, peptic ulcers, visceral ptosis, and cancer.
Regarding jogging's cancer-preventive effects, a renowned sports scientist conducted an 8-year follow-up study of 450 male long-distance runners aged 40-90 and an equal number of non-runners with similar conditions. The study found only 4 cancer cases among regular runners, all of whom recovered after treatment. In contrast, 29 non-runners developed cancer, with 17 fatalities.
