Three Major Misconceptions About Liposuction
During a Brazilian league match, Ronaldo fractured his left hand. Though the surgery was successful, he still faces two months of recovery—a period he dreads most. Each injury hiatus inevitably triggers a surge in his weight. After his injury in the Italian Serie A last February, Ronaldo's weight ballooned from 95 kg to 105 kg during his nine-month recovery period. He admitted, "I can't get any heavier—I can't even fit into my old clothes anymore."Thus, upon joining Corinthians late last year, Ronaldo began dieting and running to shed pounds. Yet all his efforts may soon be in vain, as he has decided to undergo liposuction.Staying in a private hospital room, Ronaldo specifically requested doctors to create a new medical file under an alias. Corinthians club officials declined interviews, citing "player privacy." Nevertheless, Brazilian media tracked down the surgeon who performed the procedure.
"Ronaldo's primary issue is abnormal fat metabolism, causing localized fat accumulation. No matter how intensely he trains, he cannot shed this stubborn fat."The doctor explained, "We initially planned to remove 1.6 liters of fat, but for safety, we ultimately extracted only 700 milliliters. The procedure lasted nearly an hour. There will be some pain for a few days post-surgery, but everything should be back to normal within two weeks." Currently, Ronaldo has been discharged and returned home, though he still refuses to acknowledge the liposuction or disclose his weight: "I don't want to say because I don't think it's important. I believe hard work pays off."

Maradona Has More Experience
When it comes to liposuction for weight loss, Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona certainly has authority on the subject.
After retiring, Maradona accepted Castro's invitation to undergo drug rehabilitation in Cuba. Though he successfully kicked his addiction, his daily diet of grilled meat caused his weight to balloon to over 100 kilograms—a terrifying figure for someone standing just 1.68 meters tall.
His obesity led to a nightclub incident where he accidentally fell from a chair, injuring his nose—an event that made headlines. It also caused him to develop heart disease, resulting in three hospitalizations that nearly proved fatal.
To regain a normal life, Maradona opted for liposuction. In March 2005, he underwent the procedure in Colombia, shedding 28 kilograms to reach a healthy 75 kilograms. He also had gastric bypass surgery to prevent weight regain.
By late 2008, Maradona had become head coach of Argentina's national team. Reflecting on these transformative years, he stated: "That liposuction was a turning point for me. Only by successfully losing weight could I embrace a completely new life."
