1. Dietary Guidelines: Elderly eczema patients should abstain from smoking and alcohol, and avoid spicy or irritating foods such as fish, shrimp, crab, lamb, fresh mushrooms, and chives. Once symptoms improve, small amounts may be reintroduced, but ensure meat, fish, and eggs are thoroughly cooked—partially cooked items are more likely to trigger allergies.
2. For clothing, all undergarments, sheets, and pillowcases should ideally be made of silk or pure cotton. Synthetic fibers, fur fabrics, and down can irritate the skin. Additionally, ensure all undergarments and bedding are thoroughly rinsed during washing to completely remove detergent residue; fabric softeners should also be used with caution.
3. Bathing: Avoid bathing during the acute phase of elderly eczema. Even after symptoms subside, refrain from using hot water for washing, as this can irritate the skin and worsen rashes. Elderly skin tends to be less oily and drier. During dry seasons, bathing once a week is sufficient. Avoid highly alkaline bath products; opt for mild, child-friendly formulas instead.
