Fuai Academy reminds you: The romantic season of Christmas and New Year's is approaching. During this festive season, fashionistas aiming to be the center of attention at parties are actively "upgrading their gear."
Beyond competing in dazzling outfits and radiating charisma with full presence, achieving a flawless makeup look and dewy, plump skin is equally crucial!
Have you noticed that even with meticulously applied makeup, without the enhancement of highlighter, the result can appear flat and two-dimensional, like a painting on paper? At Fuai Academy, our instructors consistently observe that Asian facial structures naturally feature flatter bone contours. Even petite faces can appear larger, and foundation application further flattens the complexion. Without strategic highlighting and contouring, facial features lose definition, and angles become indistinct.
That's why many celebrities and models use highlighter powder to accentuate bright spots and contour powder around the face's edges—to enhance dimensionality in makeup. Mastering highlighter + contouring can make your face appear smaller and features more sculpted!
Today, Fuai Medical will teach you an advanced contouring technique. Master it, and you'll achieve a youthful, heart-shaped face that stands out in any crowd!
Advanced Contouring Technique
First, Fuai Medical emphasizes that the foundation of human beauty lies in the harmonious proportions between body parts. This beauty is most perfectly and directly expressed through smooth, rounded, and graceful curves across facial features, seamlessly connected by elegant lines.
Next, understand the "Three-Parts and Five-Eyes" principle. Grab a mirror: Step one—observe your facial features and face shape. Identify which of the three facial sections (forehead, nose bridge, chin) appears longer or shorter, and where the five eye distances fall short of the ideal. When applying makeup, we can focus on refining these areas using techniques like highlighting and contouring to create more balanced and sculpted features.
After all, few people are born with perfectly proportioned facial features. Once you fully understand your face shape, makeup application becomes much more effective! Now, the crucial question:How can you achieve beautiful contouring without a heavy makeup look? Where exactly should you apply highlighter and contour?
Important Notes:
Fuai Medical Aesthetics reminds everyone: First, find the right blending points to seamlessly integrate the makeup into your complexion, avoiding any unnatural appearance. The basic rule is: apply highlighter to areas you want to highlight and plump up, and contour to areas that are recessed or you want to appear smaller!
STEP1:
Start by applying a light-colored contour product to the center of your forehead, just above the brow bone. Apply it wider as you move upward. This will make your forehead appear longer and subtly elongate your face shape.
STEP2: Brush the light-colored contour product from the center of the brow bone toward the tip of the nose. This step helps create a more defined, lifted appearance for the bridge of the nose.
STEP3: Apply an inverted triangle contour to the chin area, widening it closer to the lips and narrowing toward the chin tip. Additionally, highlight the cupid's bow to soften lip lines and achieve a youthful effect.
STEP4: Where should the highlight be placed on the cheeks? Find the extension line connecting the outer edge of the eyebrow, the outer corner of the eye, and the corner of the mouth. The highlight on the center of the cheek should not extend beyond this line, otherwise it will make the face appear wider.
STEP5: Having identified areas for highlighting, now focus on shading. Using a dark contour product, draw a single diagonal line from the outer edge of the cheekbone down to the jawline. A steeper angle enhances facial contouring, but avoid applying too heavily or extending the line too far inward toward the center of the face.
STEP6: Apply dark contour product to the center of the highest point on the forehead and along both sides of the hairline. This step complements the earlier forehead highlighting, creating a contrast that makes the forehead appear fuller and brighter.
STEP7: Blend the contour product using a sponge, preferably with a patting motion. This ensures seamless integration with the surrounding foundation for a smooth finish.
STEP8: After evenly patting the light contour shade, apply the dark contour shade using the same patting technique. Work from the inner to outer areas in multiple passes to achieve a flawless, invisible finish.
