Is double eyelid surgery dangerous?
Is double eyelid surgery risky? Eye plastic surgery experts explain that all surgeries carry risks, but these can be avoided with proper preparation.
Many people undergo double eyelid surgery today. However, its safety depends on certain conditions: patients must be in good health, free from cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases, and without eye conditions. Those prone to keloid scarring should also avoid the procedure.
Potential risks from double eyelid surgery can be fully mitigated through preoperative examinations and postoperative care. A detailed medical checkup is required before surgery. Additionally, patients should refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol for two weeks prior, avoid undergoing the procedure during pregnancy or menstruation, and cease taking medications like aspirin or cold remedies containing aspirin, as well as traditional Chinese medicines with blood-activating properties. These substances may increase bleeding during surgery. After surgery, focus on strengthening eye muscle movement to promote blood circulation in the eye muscles and surrounding tissues, reducing and gradually eliminating swelling at the surgical site. Also, prevent scar hyperplasia by avoiding cosmetics or skincare products containing heavy metals for three to six months post-surgery.
