Phobia refers to a patient's intense fear of a specific object or situation. Though they recognize this fear is irrational and may repeatedly tell themselves there's no harm, the fear persists.Phobias significantly disrupt daily life. So how should one address them?
How to treat phobias?
Avoid dwelling on negative thoughts
When giving a speech, three concepts are often involved: what you intended to present, what you actually presented, and what you hoped to present. Focusing on imperfections and negative thoughts creates a vicious cycle. After leaving a meeting, gathering, or social event, stop dwelling on what you could have done better. Don't ask yourself, "Why did I say that?"
Everyone says something off-base now and then. However, fixating on the negative will convince you that you're someone who constantly says the wrong thing in social situations—and that belief will manifest itself more often. Recognize that everyone slips up. Don't obsess over it. Let it go.
Self-Acceptance
As the saying goes: "Self-awareness is a virtue." The ability to accurately perceive, evaluate, and accept oneself is fundamental to mental well-being. Yet, "those involved are often blind." Not everyone truly achieves self-awareness, and this cognitive dissonance is a major cause of psychological imbalance.Develop a comprehensive understanding of your psychological traits, recognize both strengths and weaknesses, and evaluate yourself objectively and appropriately. Avoid overestimating yourself, which breeds arrogance, or underestimating yourself, which leads to inferiority. Strive to cultivate the mindset that "I am one of a kind in this world." Accept yourself fully and approach your studies and life with a positive attitude.
