How to Treat Baby Heat Rash1. New Heat Rash Treatment
(1) Place 10g Sichuan pepper in an enamel pot, pour in 200ml boiling water, and simmer over low heat for 5–6 minutes. Once cooled to a comfortable temperature, use cotton wool soaked in the solution to gently wipe the affected area. After 12 hours, the pus-filled tips of the heat rash will typically shrink and dry out. To reinforce the effect, gently warm the remaining solution over low heat and reapply it to the area. After this treatment, the heat rash should disappear completely.
(2) Rub the affected area with the cut surface of a cucumber or mashed loofah leaves 2–3 times daily. Improvement should be visible within a few days.
(3) For severe heat rash, apply a mixture of 1 part licorice powder and 2 parts talcum powder to the rash.
(4) Alternatively, boil 100g of stink tree leaves and 200g of purslane in water for external washing.
2. Ten-Drop Water for Prickly Heat
Ten-Drop Water is highly effective for treating prickly heat. Method: First, clean the affected skin with sweat and natural oils warmer than body temperature. Then apply several drops of Ten-Drop Water to the area and allow it to air dry.The treated skin may feel slightly warm and sting, but symptoms will subside within minutes. Apply two to three times daily. Inflammation, swelling, and itching typically resolve within two to three days. For more severe cases, extend treatment duration.
Infants and young children have delicate skin; avoid direct application. Dilute Ten-Drop Water with warm boiled water at a 1:10 ratio before use.Adjust the number of daily applications based on the severity of the heat rash. To prevent infection from scratching with fingernails, apply with a cotton swab. Alternatively, bathing can also help prevent and treat heat rash. Add an appropriate amount of Ten-Drop Water (e.g., half a small bottle) to warm bathwater each time you bathe the child. Note: Use only plain water for bathing; avoid soap or bath products to maintain the medication's effectiveness.
3. Frosted Mulberry Leaves for Prickly Heat
Grind 200g dried mulberry leaves, 200g mung beans, and 50g calamine into powder to make prickly heat powder. Each evening, after bathing with mulberry leaf decoction, apply a layer of this homemade powder.Apply once daily; symptoms typically resolve after four to five applications. Frosted mulberry leaves must be harvested after the first frost or collected after frost damage, then air-dried and stored in a cloth bag in a well-ventilated area. Fresh mulberry leaves may be used, though their efficacy is slightly reduced.Take 500 grams of purslane, boil it in water, and use the resulting liquid to wash the prickly heat areas. Apply once in the morning and once in the evening. After the second application, the prickly heat will begin to subside, and after three applications, it will disappear. Purslane has flat, oval leaves and purple stems. It can be found along roadsides and in grassy areas.
5. Treating Prickly Heat with Watermelon Rind
Prolonged high temperatures often cause prickly heat on the skin, especially in children. It feels itchy and painful, causing discomfort. Rub the affected area with the rind of a watermelon after eating it. Rub until the skin turns slightly red, repeating two to three times daily. Improvement is noticeable the next day, and scabs may form after two days.
6. Raw cucumber juice for prickly heat
Summer sweating can sometimes cause sweat gland inflammation, resulting in small red rashes on the skin surface that are very itchy—known as prickly heat. Applying raw cucumber juice or cucumber slices to the affected areas can cure it in two or three applications. This method is especially suitable for children.
